THE BRIEF

RIVE is an experiential agency focusing on video and event production. They reached out to Studio Malt and Sitelogic to refresh their brand identity and website, respectively.

Together, we joined forces to deliver a fresh website that would reflect an updated brand identity and offer a cohesive experience across brand touchpoints.

THE PROCESS
While the team at Sitelogic conducted user interviews with client stakeholders and determined the information architecture of the new site, Studio Malt embarked on explorations for a new visual identity. Studio Malt expanded on the client’s existing color palette with a new illustration style that leveraged bold geometric shapes along with subtle texture and the suggestion of motion to invoke a sense of RIVE’s secret sauce: with a sense of process and order, plus a little bit of rule-breaking where it makes sense, experiential event-production magic can happen.

THE SOLUTION
My colleague at Sitelogic created wireframes based on the stakeholder research and established a website structure that would focus on telling the “who, what, why, and how” of RIVE’s story.

With the wireframes and some preliminary brand assets in hand, I set to work on combining the wireframes and brand assets to bring the website’s look and feel to life. We used color blocking and scale to convey RIVE’s bold, playful personality.

The abstract nature of the new brand illustration style lent itself well to both large-scale hero patterns and smaller-scale iconography, so we worked together to implement a system for these illustrations to correspond conceptually to each page, across heroes and navigational elements, allowing for a consistent brand experience across the site.
